Success Story: After Born Hungry, Sash Simpson is Ready for the Next Course
Few culinary journeys are as compelling as Chef Sash Simpson’s. From a hungry child on the streets of Chennai to leading some of Toronto’s top kitchens, his story is one of resilience, talent, and transformation. His first major return to India—captured in the powerful documentary Born Hungry—reignited his connection to the complexity and nuance of Indian cuisine. Today, he blends the best of both worlds, using his skills to uplift others. At the Families for Children orphanage in Coimbatore—where he lived until being adopted and moving to Canada at eight—he returned to establish a professional kitchen, giving displaced youth the opportunity to develop culinary talents and build a future.
