With over two decades of experience behind the bar, Alex Black stands as one of Canada's most certified and knowledgeable bartenders. His formal background as both a bartender and spirit educator has established him as a sought-after industry expert whose insights have captivated audiences worldwide.

Originally from Winnipeg, Alex played a pivotal role in shaping Vancouver's acclaimed cocktail scene before bringing his talents to Toronto in 2024. His professional journey includes valuable experience working in distilleries across Boston and Vancouver, giving him a comprehensive understanding of spirits from production to presentation.

As one of the few professionals in Canada to achieve a Level 3 Award in Spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), Alex now serves as an educator for the association, sharing his extensive knowledge with the next generation of industry professionals. He currently oversees multiple prestigious outlets and bar programs, applying his expertise to elevate hospitality standards across venues.

Alex's expertise has earned him international recognition, including the prestigious title of Global Winner at the 2018 Tahona Society Bartender competition. This accolade highlights not only his technical prowess but also his leadership in advancing critical conversations about mental health in hospitality.
