Gabby Peyton is a bestselling author, food writer and former restaurant critic based in St. John’s, NL. She is a trained Art Historian (she has an MA from the University of Toronto and spent three summers working on an archaeological dig in Turkey) with a BJ from the University of Kings College in Halifax and started her food-writing career with her blog The Food Girl in Town in 2012. Since then, she has been writing about restaurants and dining, including a five-year stint as the St. John’s restaurant critic for The Telegram. She is always travelling to eat, and her work on travel, history, and dining out has appeared in The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, Canadian Geographic, and enRoute Magazine. She has also judged enRoute Magazine’s Best New Restaurants and the Taste Canada cookbook awards. Gabby’s best-selling book, Where We Ate: A Field Guide to Canada's Restaurants, Past and Present, chronicles the history of dining out in Canada through the stories of 150 restaurants from coast to coast.
